At Finca Las Alturas we welcome guests into our home and our daily lives, offering a glimpse into life in beautiful Costa Rica. Many of our guests return time after time, and some become life long friends. Here is what a few of them had to say…
“We were made to feel like family friends immediatly. Patsy is a wonderful cook and Roberto is a great host. They both went above an beyond to accomodate us. Such great story tellers and so willing to share their knowledge and experience. We were introduced to local culture and cuisine. We rode the horses with a young Tico man, David, as our guide…He showed us beautiful sights and was wonderful with the horses. These are special people and Las Alturas de Puriscal is highly recommended. Do not expect a tourist trap. You will have a true Costa Rican experience.”
“We had the pleasure to stay with Bob and Patsy for 5 nights, we wish it could have been longer so that we could have had the opportunity to enjoy all the facility had to offer, ie horseback riding & visiting the coffee farm. We had an amazing time that included a trip to Jaco for a fishing trip, sightseeing, hiking, conversation and visiting the town of Puriscal to do a little shopping at the market. The guys can’t stop talking about how accommodating Bob was on the boys outings. We can’t wait to go back again, fingers crossed for next year…!!!!”
“Beyond the gourmet taste treats and incredible nutrition, we found the meals to include something even more wonderful. Patsy and Roberto have created an environment… We started our Costa Rica trip with them and they opened our eyes to much that is magical in the country, things we would otherwise have missed. We came for the food and left with new friends.”
“The farm is a dream for families that enjoy animals (cows, pigs, dogs, cats and of course horses), mountain views, pool, horseback riding and all kinds of farming activities. The perfect setting for a family. The rooms are super clean and looked after daily. Patsy’s food is great and we enjoyed every meal. Breakfast was my favorite, coffee grown on the farm, juice pressed from their own oranges and pineapples, and the milk still warm it is so fresh.
My kids and I enjoy horseback riding and loved the way we can interact with the horses here. You can watch the horses grazing by the pool, and take trail rides on or off the farm. The horses are lovely and being trained the natural way. Isa is the trainer and she did a great job with our kids. Our daughter could not get enough of playing with the horses and doing long trail rides with breaks on the river for swimming with or with out the horses.
Our son loved helping Bob with all kinds of tasks on the farm and fishing. My husband and I loved watching it all from the porch that overlooks a good part of the farm and the mountains. Bob and Patsy are the most gracious hosts. Their entire team is just great to be around. We will be back in April and can’t wait.”
“I fell in love with the place, the people and the area. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is great. The property is so beautiful you could actually spend your whole vacation on their back porch looking across the valley. I highly recommend it.”
“A beautiful home with outstanding tropical views and great service; easily our favorite place in our month long Costa Rica travels. Patsy and Bob are thoughtful and gracious. This is much more than a B&B. Meals were excellent and varied.”
“If you find yourselves in the Central Valley wanting a unique experience, don’t hesitate to make your way to Las Alturas! I only wish I had time for another horseback ride! Even for non-riders this is a fun place to visit.”
“We can truly say that our visit to this mountain B&B and community changed our entire view of Costa Rica. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend.”
“If you want to visit a thriving town in Costa Rica and stay at a place that feels like home, this is the place. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Drink freshly roasted coffee picked on the farm, sit on the gorgeous veranda and look into the green, quiet valley and watch the birds.”
“I now live in Santiago de Puriscal and stayed at Las Alturas when I first arrived in Costa Rica. The views are amazingly rich, with foggy zenlike mountains, verdant lush tropical gardens, and a birder’s paradise, but the best things about Las Alturas is Patsy and Bob. If you want solitude and quietness you can have that, and if you want passionate conversation and discussion of ideas you can have that too. Las Alturas is a great place to enjoy the marvels of Costa Rica.”
“Las Alturas is set in the beautiful hillsides outside of Puriscal and is the ideal destination if you’re looking to relax surrounded by the true beauty of Costa Rica, away from the masses that flood the Pacific beaches and cloud forest zip lines. Bob and Patsy are ideal hosts–generous and a lot of fun to be around! One highlight of any stay at Las Alturas is definitely Bob’s coffee. Drinking a mug of Bob’s coffee on the open veranda enjoying the afternoon breeze and sweeping green vistas reminds you how good the simple stuff can be. You also can’t leave Las Alturas without a massage from Patsy. The final “don’t miss” of a stay at Las Alturas is a natural horsemanship ride with the resident horse whisperer, Isa. A stay at Las Alturas brings together the best comfort of a charming inn and the natural jewels Costa Rica has to offer.”
