Here are a few of our most popular trail rides:
Orchard and River Trek (Beginner)
Leaving from the house we ride down through one of the orange orchards. You will see more than 2000 orange trees in various stages of maturation, breadfruit trees and a beautiful bamboo stand. We stop at the river for wading and a picnic. We return home via a different route enjoying a new perspective on the climb up.
Approx: 2 hours total, 1 hour in the saddle
The Loop Adventure (Experienced)
From the main house we ride down to the orange orchard to the river crossing, the first of four. Fording the river we enter grazing land and take meandering pathways up the side of the rolling mountainside. From this side of our farm you will see Nicoya Peninsula. Climbing rocky and steep paths, you’ll have a chance to stop and swim in amazing natural pools, waterfalls and relax with a picnic lunch. Expect to meet cows and various kind of wild life on this adventure, far away from any signs of civilization, from deep in the valley to high up, breathtaking views. We return to the house via a different route.
Approx: 5 hours total, 4 hours in the saddle
The Loop Adventure Plus Coffee Tour (Experienced)
Following the Loop Adventure up to the last river crossing, we then head across to the coffee fields. Here, depending on the time of year, you may see the harvesting taking place and learn about the delicious coffee you are drinking on the farm.
Approx: 7 hours total, 4.5 hours in the saddle
The Posa Cajon (Beginners)
This is an amazing ride to a great natural pool with a waterfall. The locals love to dive off the surrounding rocks and cliffs and even climb and jump off a tree that hangs out over the deep swimming hole. The Ticos (Costa Ricans) would love if you joined in. The ride includes a short steep road, but is not beyond anyone’s ability. This place is perfect for picnic and exploring.
Approx: 4 hours total, 2 hours in the saddle
Cortezal Pub Trip (Beginners)
Join us on a great, easy ride up the back roads to Cortezal. Passing through typical Costa Rican villages, we’ll climb up the mountain to enjoy the faboulus view. We stop at the pretty local pub in a beautiful setting where you can have a swim at their pool and enjoy delicious Tico (Costa Rican) style food. You may even luck-in and witness the Tico passion…soccer (weekends). Food and beverages are at your own expense.
